Indonesia - Indonesian Foreign Minister Sugiono said that Indonesia welcomes the ceasefire agreement between Israel and Palestine which will be effective on January 19, 2025. Sugiono emphasized his hope that both parties will uphold their commitments in order to avoid obstacles that could hinder the implementation of the ceasefire.

"We hope that by the time this agreement becomes effective on January 19, all parties will adhere to their respective agreements, so that there will be no more things that will hinder the implementation of this ceasefire," he said.

Sugiono also expressed Indonesia's readiness to support reconstruction efforts in Gaza. "The Government of the Republic of Indonesia is ready to make efforts to support repairs or reconstruction in Gaza," he added.

Readiness to Send Peacekeepers

In addition, Indonesia is open to sending peacekeepers to Gaza if requested by the United Nations (UN). "We are also ready, if needed, to send peacekeepers expected or requested by the UN," Sugiono said in his statement at the Foreign Ministry office, Jakarta.

This step is in line with Indonesia's commitment to play an active role in efforts to achieve peace and Palestinian independence. Sugiono emphasized, "What is certain is that Indonesia wants to take an active role in helping to achieve Palestinian independence."

Post-conflict Challenges

Despite the ceasefire agreement, challenges remain. Reports from Al Jazeera indicate that Israeli attacks continued hours after the ceasefire was announced. The attacks have killed at least 82 people in Gaza. This condition shows the need for consistent international attention to ensure sustainable peace.

Indonesia continues to prioritize peaceful diplomacy and concrete assistance as a form of solidarity with the Palestinian people. This active role reflects the nation's commitment to realizing peace and justice in the region.
